 Welcome to my Practice!

My name is Katrina Charlow, and I praise you for taking your first step into finding clarity and solutions in your life. I understand that it takes courage and a sense of vulnerability to reach out for help from a professional.

I provide therapy primarily to children, adolescents, and families experiencing significant behavioral and/or emotional distress and disturbances causing difficulties in peer and family relationships, self-esteem, and academic/work performances. I also provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families dealing with relationship conflict, trauma, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, and cultural adjustment issues. I have experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric and community mental health settings, including youth in the juvenile justice system.

I received a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and am registered with the State of Nevada as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am also published in The American Journal of Family Therapy and The Qualitative Report, with articles addressing advantages and disadvantages of technology in relationships and its clinical application in couple and family therapy.

My Therapeutic Approach

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery. As a Marriage and Family Therapist, my clinical assessment and treatment focuses on the system. In other words, the focus is on the cycle of interactions or patterns within you and your relationships. I am also aware of other related issues that affect self and relationships such as culture, age, gender, sexuality, disability, and spirituality. My intention is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to work through your desired goals.

I understand that no single therapeutic approach may work for everyone. Thus, I provide a personalized range of approaches and interventions in order to help address your specific needs and goals. In addition, I understand that change and process cannot be limited only in therapy sessions, which is why I believe in providing assignments outside of therapy.

The relationship between client and therapist is a central component connected to the effectiveness of therapy and producing meaningful therapeutic change. I am passionate about connecting with my clients while still providing that "little push" or encouragement when it is needed.
